Design | Fashion
To design is to create something better, innovative, more durable and, if possible, with less effort and resources. Fashion is something that is made for a season, which will be replaced in the next season and, by definition, is not sustainable. More and more products follow the guidelines of fashion and not those of design.
The challenge in designing this light was to create an ultra thin profile for LED lights. The profile, with a diameter of 14 mm, is designed for emitting “power LED” waste heat. The result is a light that does not show LED dot reflections on smooth surfaces such as glass, plastic or metal.
A table constructed from C-profiled laminate boards, which provide good stability. It is available in white (larger orders are also available in a broader colour palette). The table top has a thickness of 1cm, the edge is always black. The legs are also made from the laminated plates with added side reinforcement, which creates a ‘T’ footprint.
The table, with its downward curved sides, gives the appearance of a tablecloth being on it.
A minimalist table, with a table top made of solid, 4cm thick wood. It is available in oak, walnut, ash, maple, pear or beech. The surface is finely sanded and oiled. The legs are made of stainless steel, with a 4x4cm profile and finely glass sandblasted. This achieves afine satin surface on which finger prints do not show. The table has a selection of different legs, which can be straight or slanting, and can be installed in different positions.
For tables between 2- and 5m-long, a tensile cord, attached under the table, is used, which enables adjustment and correction of sagging that may occur in longer tables.
A lamp made of an acrylic frame and elliptic extracts from extruded polypropylene sheets, which give a softness to emitted light. It is designed for a 150cm-long fluorescent lighting tube, in a warm colour spectrum. The ceiling mounting with a thin metal string gives an impression that the lamp is floating in space. The light can be positioned at different angles.
A table constructed from C-profiled laminate boards, which provide good stability. It is available in white (larger orders are also available in a broad colour palette). The legs are made of wood. The design of the legs in the form of an “L” shape allows the table to be set at two different heights: 30cm and 74cm.
A table top made of solid, 4cm- thick pieces of wood with a 1cm-thick bevelled edge. It is available in oak, walnut, ash, maple, pear or beech. The surface is finely sanded and oiled in a natural colour. The table legs are conical and are available in wood or aluminum. The surface of aluminum can be anodised (matte grey or black) or chrome (polished or black).
The BankBox is a savings box made of corrugated cardboard in the form of an alpine hut. What once started as a school project by my colleague Tine Vrhunc, developed into a perfect didactic tool for helping to educate children about money. This product was successfully used in the biggest Slovenian bank to collect old coins and currency.
The chimney cap protects chimneys from water. The small roof that covers the chimney opening is aerodynamically designed out of two pieces of stainless steel. At the most heat-stressed point a spherically shaped shield was added to increase the life span of the chimney cap. The aerodynamics make it very effective in all wind directions.
